The test
The RoSPA advanced rider test is regarded as the most comprehensive and challenging available to the public.
Both our training and testing process is monitored and approved by the Driving Vehicles Standards Agency.
The test lasts around 60 minutes, and is taken with a RoSPA Examiner, all of whom are serving or retired Police Officers, within the UK.
The RoSPA Advanced Riding Test is unique as it is graded Bronze, Silver or Gold. A RoSPA gold is the highest civilian riding standard available and the holder will be a master of his or her art.
The cost of the advanced riding is £85.00 inc VAT.
Unlike other Advanced Rider organisations, we require 3 yearly re-tests, to ensure that excellent riding standards are maintained. The re-test fee is included in your yearly subscription costs to RoSPA.
How do I apply for my test?
Once you feel you are ready and your tutor is satisfied you have reached the required standard for your ability you may book your own test by completing the on-line application.

We will then allocate your test to an examiner in your group area. The examiner will be in touch to arrange a convenient date and location. Test are usually available within 2 weeks of booking.
The test will take place at a mutually convenient venue, date and time using your own motorcycle. Your motorcycle must be fully insured and legally roadworthy.
The main difference with the RoSPA Advanced Rider Test is its grading criteria.
Whereas with the IAM test is a pass or fail; the RoSPA achievement is marked by a Bronze, Silver or Gold award.
The IAM test pass is usually compared to a RoSPA Silver grade making the RoSPA Gold the highest civilian motorcycling qualification an individual can obtain.
The other difference with IAM is that the RoSPA certificate expires every three years meaning a retest is needed to retain or even improve your previously achieved grade.
